In this day and age, we’re all engaging in digital marketing and content. That’s why we feel confident in saying that, at some point, most companies or brands are going to have a need for captioning or transcription services. After all, 80% of social media videos are watched on mute (which means you really have to include captions) and there are currently more than 850,000 active podcasts (which always need transcripts). But, oftentimes, people put off incorporating these very necessary elements because so many of these service providers, such as Rev.com, Splasheo, and others, may not be the most affordable.

And that’s why we’re here! We want to provide you with a list of high-quality, effective, and (most of all) affordable alternatives to Rev.com and other high-priced providers. Let’s dive in!

Manual Captions/Transcripts

Instead of going with an automated tool or software, you may want to find an actual human being who will transcribe your audio and/or create captions for your videos. Our favorite recommendation for outsourcing these types of tasks is Fiverr. Fiverr is an online marketplace for freelancers where you can find lots of talented professionals in fields ranging from graphic design and digital marketing to programming and tech. To find freelancers who specialize in captions and transcripts, just click here.

Automated Captions/Transcripts

Alternatively, you may want to handle your captions and transcripts yourself. The easiest way to do that is with some type of automated tool or software (nobody wants to sit in front of their computer for hours transcribing their own audio). Here’s a list of our favorite automated options:

1. Zubtitle

Main landing page for Zubtitle

Zubtitle’s state-of-the-art software automatically transcribes the speech in your video and converts it to video captions, optimizing your video for social media with just a few clicks. Using Zubtitle for video captions can save you time and money (plus, it frees you from figuring out how to use some complicated professional software). You can burn your captions directly into widescreen, square, and vertical videos. Plus, you have the option to download .TXT and .SRT transcription files.

In addition to video captions, Zubtitle also gives you the power to enhance your video with an eye-catching top border headline, include a cool progress bar animation, quickly trim your video and watermark it with your logo, and resize/crop your video so it’s ready for social media.
