How to add captions to videos on an iPhone

Learn how to quickly and easily add captions to any video right on your iPhone.

Did you know that studies have shown that 80% of videos watched on social media are played while on mute? That’s why we created Zubtitle. When you use Zubtitle, our software automatically adds captions your videos by transcribing the audio and generating subtitle text. That means less work for you and a higher chance of your audience actually viewing your content.

Maybe you’ve never used Zubtitle before, or maybe you’ve only used it on your computer. Either way, this step-by-step guide will teach you how to add captions to your video with Zubtitle on your iPhone — no need to hop on your laptop or desktop!

How to Add Captions to Videos on an iPhone or Mobile Device

1. Create a Zubtitle account and upload your video

Here at Zubtitle, we want to make your life as easy as possible. That’s why it’s free to create a Zubtitle account and upload your videos. Just open your preferred browser on your iPhone and navigate to Zubtitle.com, where you’ll sign up using your email address or Google account.

Once you’ve done that, you can upload your video by tapping the upload button and then selecting a video from your photo library:

2. Pick a style for your captions

Once you’ve uploaded your video, Zubtitle will automatically transcribe all of the audio from your file and generate timed captions. Now it’s up to you to decide what they should look like! Just navigate to the Text Styles menu and customize all of your styling options. You can also use the Templates menu to select a pre-made template already styled for you!

3. Edit your captions

Even though our speech-to-text technology may seem like magic, it’s not infallible. So make sure you review the subtitles on your video for inaccuracies. It’s easy — just navigate t the Text Editor menu, tap, and edit!
