How to post Facebook Reels step-by-step

You already know how important Instagram Reels are for growth and engagement on Instagram. But what about Facebook Reels? Following the success of TikTok, pretty much every social media platform started to release their own features tailored for short-form video content. And that includes Facebook. With no sign of short-form video content slowing down, Facebook is pushing Reels more than ever.

Because Facebook Reels haven’t blown up in the same way Instagram Reels have, some content creators are intimidated by stepping into that space — especially when it comes down to the details of creating Reels. If you don’t know how to create or post Reels on Facebook, we’re here to help.

How to Post Facebook Reels (Step-by-Step)

1. Open the Facebook app

Once you’re in the app, tap the Watch icon at the bottom of your screen on the left-hand side. After that, tap the Reels tab.

2. Tap the camera icon

Locate the camera icon in the top right corner and tap that to start creating your own Facebook Reel.

3. Start creating your Facebook Reel

Once you’ve done that, you’ll find all of the tools you need to start creating your own Reel. If you want to use video footage you already have, scroll down to view your Camera Roll. Tap the Camera option if you want to film your footage within the app. You can also start with audio by tapping the Music option or tap Green Screen to add a background image.

 4. Edit your Facebook Reel

Whether you choose to film your footage through the app or add a video you’ve already created, you’ll have some in-app options for editing your Reel. You’ll always find those options on the right-hand side of your screen, but they’ll differ based on whether you’re recording or used pre-recorded footage.

If you’re filming, you’ll see four options on the right-hand side. You can use the Audio feature to add background music or a trending sound. You can tap Speed to slow down or speed up your video. Effects can be used to add a filter or other visual effects. And the Timer option let you set a 3-second or 10-second countdown before you start recording.

If you’re using a video you’ve already created, you’ll have a couple of the same editing features listed above: Audio and Effects. But you’ll also have a few different ones. Tap Enhance audio to clean up background noise and improve audio quality in your Reel. You can use Text to add on-screen text, Captions to transcribe the audio, and Stickers to add gifs, emojis, or other animations to your video.

5. Post your Facebook Reel

Once you’re all done editing, it’s time to post! Tap Next and you’ll be taken to the screen where you can add a caption and hashtags. Then all you have to do is tap Share Now!
