How to repurpose Youtube videos on Instagram

We know how much work goes into content creation, especially when it comes to creating and editing high-quality video content. That’s why we know you want to get the most mileage possible out of every video you create. But here’s the thing: if you’re only sharing your video on one platform, you’re missing out on a ton of exposure. And that’s why repurposing every video you make (and ones you’ve already created and posted) is so essential.

One of the best (and easiest) ways to fully leverage your video content is to repurpose your YouTube videos on Instagram. If you want a full walkthrough of every step you need to complete in order to repurpose YouTube videos on Instagram, keep reading!

How To Repurpose Youtube Videos on Instagram

Select your clip(s)

Before you can repurpose your YouTube video for Instagram, you’ll need to decide which parts of your video you want to use. After all, the length limitations on Instagram are shorter than on YouTube. On YouTube, any account can upload a video that is a maximum of 15 minutes in length. But if you have a verified account, you can upload YouTube videos that are up to 12 hours long.

On Instagram, if you’re uploading your video as a Reel (which is usually the best way to get the most eyes on your content), then you have a maximum length of 90 seconds. In order to repurpose your YouTube video on Instagram, you just have to break your YouTube video into multiple “micro” videos.

To create micro pieces of content like this, it’s best to choose a video that has a few obvious points, so that it’s easier to naturally break up. If, for example, you take a video with 5 main points, you can then divide it into 5 separate videos to cover each point and post them at different times. That’s 5 new Instagram Reels that you just created from a single video.

Duplicate your video

Once you’ve chosen the YouTube video you want to repurpose and which clip(s) you want to use from that video, you may find that you want to edit that video multiple times, especially if it’s very long and you want to turn it into multiple Instagram videos. That’s where Zubtitle’s Duplicate function comes in!

With this feature, you can create as many copies as you want of your original video, eliminating the need to upload the same original video over and over again. All you have to do is sign up for a free account (or log in to your account, if you already have one) and upload your YouTube video.

The first screen that you’ll see is a place to trim your video. You can skip that for this time and move onto the next screen. There, in the upper right hand menu, you’ll see an option to duplicate. You can use that button to duplicate your original YouTube video as many times as you want. For example, if you’re taking a longer video that you want to turn into five micro-videos for Instagram, go ahead and duplicate that original video five times. Now you can trim and edit those duplicates and keep an original, unedited copy, all in one place.

Trim your video

Now that you’ve taken care of duplicating your video, you can start editing those duplicates. Just take your first video and trim it down to only the section you want to post on Instagram. You can use our simple point and drag editor to quickly trim the front and back end of your video until you’ve got the exact clip you need. When you have the exact section you want, move on to the next screen.
