5 ways to get more engagement on your social videos

According to recent studies, 82% of global internet traffic will come from video streaming and downloads by the end of 2022. This is just another statistic in a long line of statistics that all prove the same point: video content is booming. And it will only continue to grow in the coming years.

That’s why it becomes more essential with every passing day that brands put consistent, quality video content out on their social media accounts. Of course, with all of the competition that now exists in the social video content sphere, just putting the content out there isn’t enough. You have to get engagement on that video, or all of your efforts were wasted. That's why we’re sharing our top tips for getting more engagement on your social videos.

5 Ways to Get More Engagement on Your Social Videos

1. Always upload your video natively

When you’re sharing video content on social media platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn, it’s important to remember one fact: they will always prioritize native content. In fact, studies have shown that native videos on Facebook get 478% more shares than videos from other sources. It may not seem like there would be any difference between uploading your video directly to Facebook or sharing the link to that same video on your YouTube page… but there is! So, instead of sharing that YouTube link, take the extra minute to upload your video natively through whatever social media platform you’re on. The difference in engagement could be enormous.

2. Tailor your video’s copy

Even if you’re sharing the exact same video across multiple social platforms, that doesn’t mean you can just copy and paste the same caption each time you upload. To get the most engagement from your social videos, you’ll want to optimize the copy for that video to best suit each platform. When you’re tailoring your copy for Instagram or Twitter, make sure to use hashtags. For LinkedIn, use a slightly longer caption. And, on Facebook, write a story that will make your audience want to hit the share button.

Pro tip: Don’t forget to include a call-to-action in your video’s copy!

3. Add a headline

Including a title at the top of your video is one of the best ways to increase engagement. Why? Because it grabs your viewer’s attention. You can upload a great video, but if a potential viewer can’t tell immediately what the video is about… chances are, they’ll scroll right on by. Pique your audience’s interest in your social video by crafting a title that is eye-catching, informative, and uses keywords. Once you have your title, add it to your video as a headline. If that sounds difficult, just use Zubtitle! With Zubtitle’s video title editor, it’s easier than ever to add an engaging, customized headline to your social video.

4. Include captions

In a day and age where 80% of social videos are watched on mute, your video content must be able to stand on its own without any sound. How do you accomplish that? By adding captions! If you don’t have captions on your video, you’re going to miss out on so much engagement. Anyone who is scrolling through their social media feed on mute is going to pass right by your video when they realize it can’t be watched without sound.

Now, you’ve probably never included captions on your videos simply because you don’t know how or you suspect it’s going to involve a ton of extra steps (and time that you don’t have to waste). That’s where Zubtitle comes in! When you edit your video with Zubtitle’s state-of-the-art software, your audio will be automatically transcribed and added to your video as timed captions. 5. Optimize your video’s length (and sizing)

We talked earlier about how you should tailor your video’s caption for each individual social platform. The same idea holds true for your video’s length and size. The requirements and specifications for length and sizing differ across every social media platform. To get the most engagement, you absolutely must optimize your video for each of your accounts. Thankfully, this is another place where Zubtitle can make your life much easier. For a step-by-step guide on using Zubtitle to resize your video for every social media platform, click here.
